Understanding "Colorization" 10 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
I've seen this term thrown around when it comes to photo mosaics, and I'm curious what it's exact meaning is. Does this mean that the small photo's in the mosaic are tinted to fit better? Or is the large image super-imposed over all of the smaller ones?

Can anyone tell me what I can do change how much colorization is needed? Like will more images or mosaic size effect this?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

From what I gathered Trekkie, every mosaic company is a little bit different. Some companies look like they tint the cells a little, while others flat out superimpose the image on top. This is done to boost the detail of the final product, but usually ends up making it look pretty cheap.

You have the right idea for improving it though. The larger the mosaic and the more cells you have, the less colorization you will need.

I ended up going with Picture Mosaics. I got their 'large' size and had about 1,000 photos. The final product doesn't look like they used any 'colorization' at all and turned out great.

Hope this helped and good luck with your mosaic!

Thanks Will!
The more I look around, the more this is starting to make sense. I see what you mean by some of the companies superimposing. When I zoom in on the examples it looks sorta fake.

Picture Mosaics looks like they make a great product though, I just want to make sure I understand how this works before I spend the money.
